I lost a total of 22lbs over the 18 weeks, a huge feat for me. I feel great and am motivated to keep up a workout schedule through the winter. I have a lot of weight to still lose, but this time around I’m not quitting. I CAN do this and WILL succeed!
Born and raised in Southern California, I moved to Colorado 17 years ago. I’m married to a wonderful husband and have two handsome little boys (3 years and 6 months). I’ve struggled over the past 8 years with hypothyroidism and was diagnosed with PCOS just before becoming pregnant with my second child. These two conditions have caused lots of frustration when it comes to my weight. No matter how well my diet was and how awesome my workouts were, my weight would only drop a few pounds over a 3-4 month period. Talk about discouraging. I’ve continually gained weight over the past 8 years, to the point that after having my second child I was still 80 lbs overweight after losing the 30lbs of baby weight I gained.
So... back in April after having my second child the end of March, and knowing I had 26 weeks of maternity leave ahead of me, I thought about BCOR. I had done BCOR the previous two summers and enjoyed it and the results, though the weight loss was under 10lbs. So as I thought about it, I got my annual phone call from Josh. I knew the second he called I was in for the summer. I signed myself up for 18 weeks of BCOR which would coincidentally end the day I returned back to work from maternity leave. Being in the worst shape of my life, I had to at least get my strength back to keep up with my two little ones.
I didn’t realize how tough it was going to be to start BCOR 7.5 weeks after a c-section. But I was in it for the long haul. I told myself not to get discouraged if I was always last, I just came off major surgery. The key to my success was going to be showing up for every class.
I had the best coaches, one who had also had c-sections and helped me through the summer. After the first session I improved all my fit scores significantly and felt so much better and re-energized. I was excited for the second session. We had one of the same coaches from the first session, who understood me to a T and gave me the encouragement and pushed me even harder. In the second session, I wasn’t finishing last anymore. I could run again and felt like I could keep up with the majority. It was such a self-confidence booster. Just before the second session I also had found a new doctor who is helping me with my thyroid and PCOS. So I was actually losing weight too.
