Meet another successful BCOR couple: Mark and Renee Jahnke. Renee joined first and Mark didn’t want her to be the only one getting amazing results. From weight loss achievement to their inspired triathlon experiences, BCOR became a catalyst for them that will inspire you!
We are from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. We met in high school...high school sweethearts :-) We got married in 1995 and lived in Texas. In 2000, we decided to move to Colorado because we love to ski!
Renee: We found out about BCOR at the Donor Dash in 2005. Our son was born with a rare congenital heart defect and subsequently had at heart transplant at 9 weeks old. I wanted to start living a healthier life to set a good example for him as he grows up. So I joined BCOR in October of 2005. It was the hardest and best thing I did for myself, and my family. Our son will be 3 years old in April...he is healthy and very energetic! He loves to do sit ups and jumping jacks :-) It feels good to have the energy to keep up with him!
I love the group workouts; I love the motivation the coaches give me and I love that we do a different work out every class. I have lost over 20 pounds (19 left to go!) and almost 28 inches! I've gained lots of confidence, within my self and my athletic ability....I ran the Bolder Boulder last year (my 1st ever 10K) and completed 2 sprint triathlons last summer. This year's firsts include a half marathon in April and an olympic distance triathlon in September.
We are setting a good example for our son...he can't wait to do a Kid's triathlon when he gets old enough so he can swim, bike and run like mommy and daddy. We've inspired my dad to train and do a triathlon with us this summer. And I love shopping for smaller clothes!!
Renee’s Secret to Success: No secret...just come to class! What keeps me motivated is setting small goals, attaining them, and setting new goals that make me reach a little farther.
Mark: I joined BCOR in May 2006 after seeing the great results Renee was getting and after her telling me how great it was. Then she said she wanted to do the Bolder Boulder and a triathlon, so I decided to get busy too.
I love the outdoor workouts in the spring, summer and fall and I love the motivation the coaches give me to get to class each day. My new favorite is the virtual coaching...it gives me a schedule to follow and the technical expertise to obtain the specific race goals I've set.
I've lost 20 pounds and gained speed and strength. I ran the Bolder Boulder in 2006 and completed 2 sprint triathlons last summer. I'll also be running a half marathon and completing an olympic distance triathlon this year, so more results to come.
Kudos on the virtual coaching...it's a great program, well worth the time and money. BCOR socials are an added benefit. Regarding the Pulse heart rate monitor, this has been a very beneficial tool to my workouts. I've been able to see how effective working in the target heart rate range is for fat burning/weight loss and endurance.
Mark’s Secret to Success: I just following the plans that BCOR coaches have laid out for me. The plans aren't easy, but very rewarding!
