Boulder
Paula has been in BCOR for two sessions and is about to jump in her third in Boulder . She is journaling her experiences training for her run across the country from Boulder to Michigan coming up next year! She is a passionate runner and even has her own blog at http://pjsrun.blogspot.com. Here is her story:
“I was born in Detroit , Michigan ; raised in Petoskey , Michigan . I fell in love and moved to Colorado in 1973 after graduating from Michigan State University . I just recently retired after 26 exciting years as an IT Project Manager at CU-Boulder.
My start in "fitness" began with a running class while I was in grad school at CU (1978-1980). Since then I've run 26 marathons including 5 Bostons (note - a Boston Qualifier is a whole lot easier as an "old lady";). Other than running, before BCOR, I've only dabbled in other sports/fitness activities (hiking, skiing, basketball...)
My next big running goal is to run from Boulder , Colorado to Petoskey , Michigan during the summer of 2007. I figure I'm going to need more than just leg strength and good lungs to get me there! This is where BCOR comes into play.
BCOR has been absolutely fantastic for building overall strength - and for working with each individual while building that strength. I noticed big changes in my day-to-day activities since participating in BCOR. I've found myself bounding up steps, lifting with single arms, springing from a sitting-on-the-ground position to a standing position, running with higher knees and heels, running for longer distances without upper body fatigue, and weight & flab loss. A lot of these little things have added up to the highest level of overall fitness I've ever experienced.
I've been very impressed with how, during each class, attention is paid to each individual:
It really maximizes the quality of the program for each person!
